When Hal was entering kindergarten, he wore glasses. Specifically, he wore glasses exactly like Harry Potter. And, frankly, many people commented about how much like Harry Hal looked. When Hal was twelve, he became interested in the books and plowed his way through the first four books. Kiki noticed that Hal lost interest when Harry's age in the book and the tone surpassed Hal's and the stories became a bit more mature.
Now as the final chapter of Harry's chronicles nears its premier in movie theaters and the trailer is run regularly on TV, Hal has begun to comment on how hard Harry's life has been. The latest: "I felt really bad when Harry's godfather died." Kiki asked why that part of the tale made Hal feel really bad. Hal said he could imagine how that felt for Harry as it makes him think how he would feel if his godfather, J, was to die. He stated emphatically if someone were to kill J, Hal would hunt him down and then "it would be like the Godfather, even if it would stop my chances of getting on the police force."
