Church School Bully

Marty announces in the car late on Sunday that immediately after Church School, Hal came into her classroom to tell her something and another boy punched Hal in the back. Marty was pissed. She told Kiki that she told the boy and the boy's guest to get out of her classroom and when he stepped further into the room she gestured with her fist and shouted at him to get out. Kiki was instantly fretting and upset as she had seen this same boy pushing at Hal, punching his shoulder, and kicking him under the table on other occasions. Marty and Kiki had a serious conversation about how to discuss with Hal. Kiki reminded Marty that boys did "evolve" in this manner -- hitting each other, seeing who would flinch first, but Hal was not that kind of boy, was he? Wouldn't he just take it and take it because
- he didn't know how to fight back
- he didn't know when someone was kidding vs really bullying him to make themselves look tougher
- he wants people to be his friend and so won't defend himself
- doesn't really know what to do to defend himself

Kiki let Da and Loo both know what had happened, but no one knew quite what to say or how. Kiki waited a while and then when she was alone with Hal, she brought it up. Kiki told Hal she had heard from Marty that D had punched him in the back today in her classroom and it had really bothered Marty. Hal stated that sometimes D did that, but Hal just ignored it. Hal was calm and matter-of-fact when he made the statement and Kiki decided that if Hal wasn't upset about it, then she needed to let it go.
